I just spent the past 5 days helping Mecum by organizing all the drivers for this event. Along with members of my car club- The Mid Florida Corvette Club and 150 drivers from all over Florida & various parts of the U.S., we put all the cars across the auction block. Kudos to all involved… It was a GREAT EVENT! I can’t wait for next year to do it again with this great group of drivers & workers.

It’s repossessed. It’s not his car any more. He defaulted on the loan, so he no longer owns the car. It does sound like they are nice enough to try to get the car back for him, but they are not required to.

*EDIT* – He was 3 months late, and made a deal to pay 2 months to keep the car. But he was late on that payment. So he does not have a very good track record as far as trust goes with the finance company. They are within their right to repo the car. And yes, if they have to do repairs to get it ready for auction, then he owes them for that.

You didn’t say how overdue the payment was when they repossessed the car. I’ll bet it was a lot more than 2 business days. Normally cars don’t get repossessed until they are a couple of months overdue.

Get the car back but DEMAND that they remove the repo entry from the credit report.

If you are going down $ 10,000 for a car that has a blue book for $ 7,200, then they should be willing to remove the repo entry for you cooperation to pay off the note.

GET THAT IN WRITING or it’s hearsay!
