Question by old doughboy: my car got repo left plate on it and a week later got a letter from b m v wanting insurance info?
after it was repo it was taken to a different city but some one at the auction barn took the car and got in a car crash and since it has my plate on it i was told that i am the one responsible for the damage the ..d.m.v tell me since it had my plates on it that make me responsible for what ever happen i drop the insurance after it got tow away what should i do any ideal

Answer by pedro7of9 if you didn’t cancel the registration it may have been registered to you…a registered car with no insurance is illegal,,,however the car didn’t belong to you…sent them a nice letter explaining all this,,[registered] giving contact info if they want to call or write or e mail you… you may be ok if not you may end up needing legal help ..keep copy’s of all paperwork and keep a log of phone calls and who you talk to…I had a fight with the new york DMV… took me a year and 2 trips to albany ny [from virginia ] and about 1000 dollars to be rid of the #&%^(*#@ ers
Question by Dan H: Can The Bank Repossess This Car?
I’ve been out of work since June ’07. Try as I might, I just cannot find another job… and I’ve been looking (I’m a system admin, so if there’s anybody out there who needs one!…).
That said, the bank repossessed my car that they provided me the loan for. The car was auctioned off on Jan 31. I have not received any word on the remainder of the loan that is still outstanding.
With my tax return, I just purchased a car… paid cash for it. No loan… no lien. The bank called me stating that if there is an outstanding balance on the repossessed car, the will repossess the car I just paid cash for to make up the difference.
Can they do this, as the bank has no financial ties to this car I just bought?

RICHARDT – For additional info, I told the bank I was going to catch up the loan with the tax refund. The repo’ed the car that very night. My intention was to catch up. It’s not my fault the bank chose to wait until they thought I had a chance to make good on my loan to get my car. Before you start shooting your mouth off like a total prick, why don’t you ask for more info? Shows the level of your ignorance.
